Yang OvO

Yang OvO is a Singapore-based artist, designer, and creator of OOJA. With a background in fashion design and graphic design, her practice spans painting, sculpture, ceramics, and art. She is also the co-founder of Gagatree and Mokuyo Studio.

An inventive approach to materials is central to her practice. Working across resin, clay, oil paint, and mixed media, Yang experiments with texture, form, and unexpected combinations to bring her ideas to life.
 

Drawing on nostalgia, imagination, and everyday experiences, Yang explores the inner child and the emotional tensions of adult life. Her signature character, OOJA, embodies a simple, brave spirit connected to nature. Through this character, she gives form to feelings of vulnerability, wonder, and the desire to remain true to oneself.
 

Her works have been presented in exhibitions in Singapore and a group show in Thailand. She has collaborated with CooperVision, the National Museum of Singapore, and UNIQLO. She also created customised Barbie dolls for the Wings of Art and Wings of Christmas charity auctions.

In 2026, Yang was named a finalist in the UOB Painting of the Year competition, adding recognition for her painting practice alongside her work in design and character creation.
